Gozo

Set in the middle of the blue Mediterranean, the Maltese islands enjoy some of the best climate in Europe, a wealth of scenic beauty and a vast inheritance of culture.

The strategic position of Malta, Gozo and Comino has made this archipelago a crossroads of history.   Because of its location, enhanced by stunning natural harbours, Malta has from the earliest times drawn many powerful nations towards its shores, such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Swabians, Angevins, Aragonese, Castillians, the Knights of St John, the French and finally the British. Since 1 st May 2004 Malta has joined the EU.

Although Gozo shares a common history with Malta, physically it is different. Flat-topped hills, steep valleys and rugged cliffs dominate the landscape. Gozo reveals its secrets slowly and its charm grows rather than diminishes from the moment the visitor makes the first contact with the friendly Gozitans. Want more? Click here
