Diving in Gozo: Requirements for Divers and Dive in Gozo

Prerequisites for Divers and Diving in Gozo

Anyone wishing to enjoy any recreational scuba diving in Gozo, Malta, even in totally controlled conditions such as a swimming pool, must complete and sign a self-declaration Medical Statement form. The purpose of this medical questionnaire is to find out whether you should be examined by a physician or not before taking part in any underwater activity. A positive response means that a physician must be consulted. Atlantis Diving Centre provides the service of a doctor specialised in diving medicine for those who require a medical check-up. The cost of this check-up is €25.00. Medical certificates from abroad are accepted. Though not required, we always recommend a doctor ‘s medical before going to the sea.

The minimum age to participate in open water diving is 10 years . Divers under 18 years of age require written consent of a parent or guardian.

Divers who are not yet qualified as Advanced Open Water Diver or two-star diver or equivalent, are required to dive accompanied by an instructor at all times.

Unless starting a beginner’s diving course, all divers must show proof of their qualification and experience, such as certification and logbook, before being able to dive.

Unaccompanied divers must hire a car or jeep in order to reach dive sites, a service provided by Atlantis Diving Centre.
