Requirements for divers and dive in Gozo

Anyone wishing to enjoy any recreational scuba diving, even in totally controlled conditions such as a swimming pool, must complete and sign a self-declaration Medical Statement form. The purpose of this medical questionnaire is to find out whether you should be examined by a physician or not before taking part in any underwater activity. A positive response means that a physician must be consulted. Atlantis Diving Centre provides the service of a doctor specialised in diving medicine for those who require a medical check-up. The cost of this check-up is €25.00. Medical certificates from abroad are accepted. Though not required, we always recommend a doctor ‘s medical before going to the sea.

The minimum age to participate in open water diving is 10 years . Divers under 18 years of age require written consent of a parent or guardian.

Divers who are not yet qualified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or BSAC Sports Diver, or CMAS two-star diver, or equivalent, are required to dive accompanied by an instructor at all times.

Unless starting a beginner’s course, all divers must show proof of their qualification and experience, such as certification and logbook, before being able to dive.

Unaccompanied divers must hire a car or jeep in order to reach dive sites, a service provided by Atlantis Diving Centre.
