Calypso Tunnel & Cave

This dive begins along the edge of a reef, an underwater extension of the headland above. As divers descend, they’ll encounter two narrow horizontal cracks at 21 meters and another at 32 meters. Passing through these cracks leads to a large cave, known as Triple Arch Reef, named after the two enormous holes formed by the collapsed roof.

Contrary to its name, Triple Arch Reef isn’t a tunnel or a natural archway but showcases a striking spectacle with a narrow bridge between the holes, resembling a massive archway. Turning back towards the north-facing wall reveals the ‘Face,’ resembling two ‘eyes’ and a big ‘mouth.’ The best viewpoint is at 19 meters, right under the ‘archway,’ allowing divers to navigate through the ‘Face’ and explore the two holes at roof level.

To the west, not far from Calypso Tunnel, lies Submarine Cave, approximately 15 minutes’ dive away. Starting at 21 meters and reaching a silty bottom at 34 meters, this cave is closer to Double Arch Reef along the same wall. The dive offers a unique underwater landscape, combining caves, archways, and intriguing formations, making it a memorable exploration for divers seeking both adventure and natural beauty.

The aquatic life includes dusky grouper, scorpionfish, amberjack, moray eels, common octopus, starfish, tuna, Mediterranean damselfish, and saddled bream. The site’s unique features, such as the narrow cracks and expansive cave, make it an exciting destination for divers seeking both challenge and beauty.
