Xlendi Bay is a sheltered dive site perfect for conducting dive courses and first-time try diver training. There is a very shallow entry over small banks of neptune grass leading down to a series of rocky passageways there is lots of nice Marine life to encounter!
Xlendi Bay The Dive
Xlendi Bay offers an ideal environment for divers of all levels. For those taking the PADI Discover Scuba Program, after a brief orientation, beginners get accustomed to breathing through a regulator on the surface before venturing into shallow water. Guided by their instructor, they explore up to a depth of 5 meters, traversing the length of the bay. Qualified divers, aiming to explore the tunnel, begin their dive at the deeper end of the bay and head towards the north face. The tunnel entrance, just below the surface, leads to a 30-meter-long open cave with a 10-meter deep exit. Divers can surface inside the cave to enjoy the serene views on calm days. For the cautious and experienced, snorkeling from the outer sea through the tunnel into Xlendi Bay is also an option. The tunnel and bay, with no currents, are popular for night dives and offer a great experience for less experienced divers in a semi-closed environment.
Xlendi Bay Aquatic Life
Xlendi Bay is teeming with vibrant marine life, making it a delightful destination for divers and snorkelers alike. During beginner dives, divers can spot octopus, moray eels, and various species of fish. The tunnel and cave walls are adorned with golden zoanthids, red starfish, sponges, and colorful algae. Divers often encounter bristle worms, pink flabellina, and hervia. The pinnacle-shaped reef and the gradual outer drop-off, which extends beyond 30 meters, are home to within the bay, divers frequently come across numerous species of coral fish, nudibranchs, moray eels, and octopus making every dive a captivating underwater adventure.
